"I feel most inspired to create when I see street art and graffiti.  I love seeing art in the streets, it makes me happy!  I am inspired by energy.  My message is to inspire women to find their inner DEITY."  - Deity

DEITY

In her own words, Deity describes her creative process as "the Hero's Journey.  Departure, initiation, and return.  My departure is the adventure prior to my quest.  Initiation is my advetnure along the way.  My return is the knowledge and powers I've acquired while on my journey."  -  Deity

There's something magical about painting in the streets, it has given me a sense of accomplishment and existence.  The impermanence of my work has freed my mind from things I can't control, and helped me with acceptance.  Although most of the time I paint alone, I enjoy working on collaborative projects.  My work tends to focus on women and I would like to think that it will inspire them to be strong and unique.  My characters and seductive and whimsical with a pin-up inspiration."  - Deity

A self-taught street artist and mural painter living in Covina, CA, Diety has been painting for six years, developing her striking and whimsically stylized feminine characters, that provide a distinctive departure from the usual suspects depicted in the male dominated graffiti art subculture.

Deity first encountered Few and Far a year ago, while she was a guest artist at Granite Skate park in Sacramento, CA ,during their 2nd annual anniversary roadtrip.  "After painting with the crew, I was cordially invited to paint with them again as a guest artist at Art Basel Miami.  Agana, Toofly, Kazilla, Ursula Young and I, rocked an all female mural titled "Warrior Women".  A few months later, I was officially welcomed into Few & Far during an event in Texas called "Clogged Caps" where we painted a Jazz influenced mural." - Deity

She' currently working on commissions and collaborative murals; prior projects on view in Colorado, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Miami, and Texas.  She is inspired by the beauty radiating from people she meets in her daily life, as well as Miss Van, Fafi, Mademoiselle Kat, El MAC, Frida Kahlo, David Choe, Blek Le Rat, Gustavo Rimada, Diego Rivera, Chicano art, Sylvia Ji, Audrey Kawasaki, and the music of Theivery Corporation, Portishead, Brazilian Girls, FLUME, Bonobo and The Gotan Project.
