URSULA X YOUNG

"I am most inspired when I have a clear concept and a deadline to push me forward. I do a rough sketch, then get right to my work.  I don't do intricate sketches, and I often go over or rework things.  I work fast and work on a few at once." - Ursula X Young

In her own words, Ursula X Young's inspirations "are from the past; early Victorian fairytale illustration, the Pre-Raphaelites and the Art Nouveau movement, and modern day ; urban contemporary illustration, street art, and the low brow movement.  The women aren't anyone in particular, but are inspired by people I know and meet along my travels."

For nearly two decades, Ursula Xanthe Young, has captured whimsically stylized vinettes of women in both natural and urban San Franciscan-inspired landscapes. Her work translates onto a wide variety of mediums; murals, apparel, restaurant signs, magazine covers, food trucks, record sleeves, cd covers, and more traditional commissions, ie; an 18' triptych on the Grand Hyatt SF's 36th floor.

She has been with Few&Far for 3 years, as a result of having met Meme at an art show, and has studied art in New York City, Florence, Vermont, Oslo, and London.   An avid world traveler, lifetime painter, and Parsons School of Design grad, Ursula X Young hails from Northern England's Yorkshire Dales, and currently resides in Grass Valley, CA, at the pine forested foothills of the California Sierras with ehr husband, daughter, and three cats.
